Influences...

Here's a great bunch of pages I found over at Koch Comic Art link. Growing up I did not read any Archie but somehow I've been influenced by this stuff. The humor's great, the cute chicks--How the gals are all disheveled from chasing the guys here... Look how Veronica's hair is all scratchy and tattered on the silouette but it still has that 50's comic ink sheen to it. Brilliant!

FD Face

A pencil piece done for the FP signing to go on the wall. I figured a big image would help people see me there. The art ended up hanging kind of high. Maybe next time we could string them on a clothesline!

Over to the HOPPER House...

We're fortunate to have a couple of open figure drawing classes around here so tonight it's off to the Hopper House link in Nyack, NY. It's a discipline I always felt helped my style, I strongly recommend this activity to aspiring comic book artists. They have a great spread of goodies and coffee at the Hopper house too so you can munch out and gab with the other artists and stuff. So if you're near Nyack and feel like getting out, come on down tonight for some drawing, fellowship and fun!

Old House Ad, unpublished page, re-do page

Some examples of different Mannion styles here. I think I'm moving a bit more towards the realistic lately. The one cartoony page from the Bomb was dropped and replaced by the "Spirit" swipe which is still one of my faves. The tight ad at the bottom was a thrill to do.

Here's an old doodle sheet that we had around I thought might be fun to post. It's Betty trying to get Prissy Jones to augment her boob size to increase comic book sales. I have some of these little vignettes kicking around, We'll try to keep them up and active here while everyone waits for FD#3 and 4 to come out. Production is on though folks! Don't you fret..
