Here's a great bunch of pages I found over at Koch Comic Art link. Growing up I did not read any Archie but somehow I've been influenced by this stuff. The humor's great, the cute chicks--How the gals are all disheveled from chasing the guys here... Look how Veronica's hair is all scratchy and tattered on the silouette but it still has that 50's comic ink sheen to it. Brilliant!
Archie is something that has changed greatly, though I'm happy that your looking to the past for inspiration when looking at Archie. I've been a fan of the Bob Montana years, there are some good ones on Comic Art Fans, but not too much, sadly. If you want more there is always the double digest, though you have to stomach through the new stuff, but there are old strips in there too. I hope there is a keen Archie influenced Fearless Dawn strip or even a one shot called "Prissy and Betty" joy!
